Love INC Hires New Director
Please welcome Stephen Jansen, the new Executive Director of Love INC Angelina County, as of April 1.
Stephen has a B.A. in History from Dallas Baptist University and a Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. A Lufkin native, he taught Social Studies at Hudson High School 2005-2011, prior to a call to ministry and attending the Seminary. Most recently, he was employed at Harvest Church and Harvest Christian Academy in Ft. Worth, and garnered experience in administration of adult and youth ministries as well as teaching. His resume includes several national and international mission trips as well as work and volunteer experience ministering to the homeless, youth, and young adults. Stephen and his wife Natalie live in Lufkin, have two sons, and attend Harmony Hill Baptist Church.
Stephen says he believes “that ministry is an outflow of the Great Commandment in obedience to the Great Commission to go and make disciples. Jesus says in Luke 10:27 that the greatest of all commandments is to love the Lord your God with all of your heart, with all of your strength and mind, and to love your neighbor as yourself. He said everything hangs on this commandment. I need to love God first and then out of that love I can love people. Ministry, therefore, should happen out of an overflow of my love for God.”
About his role at Love INC, he says “I am grateful for the opportunity to serve the communities of Angelina County through the Love INC ministry of mobilizing local Christian churches to transform lives and communities.”
Stephen is participating in on-line training with other new Love INC directors around the nation and has begun getting acquainted with local Pastors, ministries, and partner agencies. He invites everyone to drop by the Love INC office to meet him and see what your Love INC is doing.
