Looking Forward, Looking Back
We at Love INC trust that you are off to a good start in 2017. The first of the year is a time for looking ahead and for reflecting on the past. I am looking forward with expectation of great things happening at Love INC in this 25th year of operation.
This year we will focus on helping individuals and families to find a church home. While we meet the practical needs of people, as we are called to do, we don’t want to lose sight of our primary purpose of connecting people to a church family and a personal relationship with Christ. The needs are countless but God’s provision is limitless.
The last couple of months of 2016 were full of activity around the holidays. One thousand eight hundred and eighty six children from 586 families received toys through Manger Network and Toys for Tots with the involvement of 30 churches. Churches and businesses adopted families, and volunteers from across the community along with 20 Marines and their families bagged and distributed toys donated by our local communities. The Campbell group donated $1,800 for gift cards for teens. Ladies from the Lufkin Dream Center came to the Love INC office and prepared bags with alphabetized tags to help the process of bagging and distributing go smoothly. They were giving right up to the last day the Center was open. Lockheed Martin donated thirty Thanksgiving baskets of food for the needy. Many, including the Woodmen of the World, gave financial support throughout the year. Reflecting on this past activity causes us to be grateful for those who chose to “do” as commanded in IJohn 3:18 and gives us hope and confidence in God’s provision for future work.
You can see that volunteers made the difference in what we were able to do last year, and they will make the difference in 2017. Help out by volunteering and letting others know about the opportunities at Love INC. We need phone volunteers Tuesday through Thursday, 9 a.m. until noon and noon until 3 p.m. Call 936-637-6637 to volunteer or get more information.
